In February 1955, after another of Batista's fraudulent victories of the elections all political prisoners were set free. Castro left Cuba, schoolteacher Frank Pais set to the task of organising the resistance organisation, that by that time already was known as the movement of the 26th of July. Castro himself left for Mexico and set up an armed and trained rebel-army.
