The historical revolution that makes Cuba the country it is at present
not just happened in a couple of weeks.
During the years following the coup of Batista, in Havana a group of young
revolutionaries gathered on regular basis.
Fidel Castro, a young lawyer, was one of them. On the 26th of July 1959
he led 119 armed revolutionaries in the attack on the army barracks of Moncada.
As a result of early discovery the attack led to failure and 55 of the rebels
were arrested and killed, tortured and executed.
Castro came away and fled to the nearby mountains but later also was arrested.
In spite of the instruction of killing any arrested rebels Castro (not by speeching
but by intervention of the archbishop) was not killed but convicted to 15 years of prison.
This course of events would surely influence the future to great extend !
